At The Arctic Hideaway on Fleinvaer, there is plenty of room — inside and out — to be alone in the creative process. Studio space for artists and musicians, writing desks to pen narratives and a coastline with your pick of rocks or grassy nolls to sit with your contemplative thoughts under the midnight sun. Then there’s the kitchen and dining space. Every evening it turns into the perfect Venn diagram of group dynamics, culinary creativity, cultural expression and gastromic experimentation.

Since arriving 10 days ago, I have not been on social media*, looked at breaking news or kept up with my work emails. Have I missed any of that? That would be a solid ‘no.’ I have corresponded with some friends and family and sent photographs so they know I have not wandered off and become lost above the Arctic Circle (destined to become the subject of a NOVA special in a 100 years or so).
